That's true. That's what I should do, but it's really not that easy. People look down at non-believers quite a bit around here, I hear it during class at MECC constantly. This is a pretty Christian area, it's everywhere...from them outside of Walmart, to the fair, to handing out pocket-bibles at the college. People look at you different when they find that out, like you're some terrible, evil person.Quote:

When I have kids, I really want to raise them in this area, its safe, its clean, etc..
But the one worry I have is that the schools will not do my kid justice, because I won't be taking him to church.

Would I be offended? No, and you know that. You and I have discussed religion numerous times and we both know how each feel about it. I don't think any less of you and you do not think less of me. I just fail to see how you are being forced to do anything. You can talk to the guy beside you, go buy a popcorn, or whatever. If you were leading a prayer one would assume the only being following you would be those who follow the same beliefs you have. I'm not very religious and will agree that religion has caused many wrongs throughout the world but it has also served a major purpose as well. Studies have shown that up to 86% of the people living in the Bible Belt, which I would put this area in, are of the Christian Faith. As I stated in one of my original posts in this thread, the Constitution states for the general welfare, how could you get much more general than 86%?Quote:

What about the other 14%? Does the Constitution not also state we are all entitled to the rights of religious (or non-religious) freedom? Why should the other 14% have to live by the moral code subjected by the 86%?

This is about Schools sanctioning Christian prayer, and I know you feel that is unconstitutional. So why are you fighting me so hard on this?
You know that it is highly illegal and immoral for tax funded schools to allow one religion to be the religion of the school.
There is a reason for moments of silence, why do most Christians hate that?
Because they want it to be a Christian prayer.
A moment of silence would solve all these issues; why is that not the obvious answer?
Because of this area's religious connotations. Apparently, a moment of silence is wrong,but a Christian prayer is right.
